Wilson KTour 95
ไม้ตัวนี้นี่ผมอยากได้มานานแล้วหล่ะ หลายๆคนบอกว่าเป็นไม้ของผู้หญิง แต่ผมว่ามันเหมาะกับทุกเพศทุกวัยนะ อันนี้ไม่ได้พูดเกินจริงๆ เดี๋ยวจะบอกว่าทำไม สิ่งที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของไม้ตระกูลนี้คือ "เบาแต่แน่นปึ๊ก" ซึ่งผมไม่เคยเจอความแน่นในไม้ที่เบากว่า 300g เลย ผมเคยได้ลองมาตั้งแต่ nTour, nTour 2, และล่าสุด KTour ตัวนี้ถ้าเรียงตามความชอบก็คงจะเป็น KTour > nTour > nTour 2 หลังจากที่ได้ไม้มาผมก็เอามาขึ้นเอ็นด้วย Babolat Xcel Premium 16 ที่ความตึง 52 ปอนด์ วันนี้ตอนเช้าได้เอาไปน๊อกบอร์ดทีนึงแล้วตอนเย็นก็ได้เอาไปลงตีในคอร์ทอีกครั้ง ผลเป็นดังนี้ครับ

Ground stroke: หนักแน่นทั้ง Forehand & Backhand (ทั้งมือเดียวและสองมือ) เหมาะกับการตีทั้งแบบเต็มวงและการตีแบบสบัดเน้นข้อมือ แต่อันหลังนี่จะเหมาะกว่าครับเพราะมันช่วยให้เล่นทิศทางได้ง่ายดี

Power: กำลังพอดีเลยครับ ไม่รู้จะอธิบายยังไง แต่เนื่องด้วยที่ตัวไม้น้ำหนักเบามากๆทำให้ Plow-Thru effect ไม่ได้มีมากเท่าที่ควร เพราะฉะนั้นไม้นี้อาจจะมีปัญหาในการบล๊อกลูกแรงๆ ปกติแล้ว Power มาจากโมเมนตัมในการตีลูกซึ่งจากสูตรฟิสิกส์สมัย ม.4 โมเมนตัมเท่ากับ มวล x ความเร็ว ถ้าเราไม่โมไม้เลย นั่นหมายความว่าคุณต้องซวิงเร็วเพื่อให้ได้โมเมนตัมเยอะๆ แต่ไม้ผมที่ผ่านมาส่วนใหญ่จะเน้นที่น้ำหนักเยอะมากกว่า คือไม่มีอะไรต่ำกว่า 330g เลย เพื่อที่จะได้หยุดแรงปะทะไว้ที่ตัวไม้ให้มากที่สุดก่อนที่มันจะลามมาถึงแขน สำหรับ KTour โมเมนตัมต้องมาจากเรี่ยวแรงของผู้เล่นเป็นหลัก ถ้าต้องการแก้ไข ทางเลือกที่ทำได้คือต้องเสริมตะกั่วเพิ่มเพื่อเพิ่ม Stability กับ เพิ่ม Static/Swing Weight เพื่อที่จะเพิ่มโมเมนตัมในการตีลูก แต่ผมก็ไม่ค่อยอยากจะแนะนำนะครับ ผมว่าไม้นี้ใน stock form ก็มีเอกลักษณ์ที่ดีอยู่แล้ว

จาก Power Map จะพบว่า KTour สามารถให้ Power Distribution ในแต่ละโซนได้ดีที่สุดในบรรดาไม้ Mid+ ยอดนิยมด้วยกัน


Feel: แน่นมากๆเหมือนกับตัวเฟรมมันกระจายโมเมนตัมได้อย่างทั่วถึง หน้าไม้นิ่งมากเวลาที่ต้องอัดแบบเต็มๆ Sweet zone กว้างมากๆ เสียงลูกกระทบไม้ดังได้ใจให้ความรู้สึกแบบ "โดนเต็มๆ"

Volley: Volley ได้ง่ายพอสมควรเพราะไม้มีน้ำหนักเบา สามารถเล่นลูกขลุกขลิกด้านหน้าตัวได้ดี


บทสรุป: ผมทึ่งกับ KTour มากๆ ปกติผมจะไม่ค่อยชอบไม้รุ่นใหม่ๆเท่าไหร่เพราะ Feel มันก๊องแก๊งเกินไป แต่ KTour นี่เป็นข้อยกเว้นครับ ตัวไม้มีน้ำหนักเบาและมี power มากพอประมาณ มันเลยน่าจะเหมาะกับสไตล์การเล่นแบบ All-Court หรือไม่ก็การเล่นคู่ และยังเหมาะกับผู้เล่นหลายระดับด้วย ผมว่าถ้าใครจะมาหัดเล่นเทนนิสด้วย KTour ก็ยังโอเคนะ (เพราะน้ำหนักกับ power level) ช่วงนี้ไม้ของ Wilson กำลังลดราคาอยู่ผมได้ตัวนี้มาในราคา 4000 ต้นๆ ถ้าเป็น nTour ก็อยู่ประมาณ 2500 เองซึ่งถือว่าโอเคเลยสำหรับไม้คุณภาพแบบนี้

Boris Becker Delta Core 1 (Demo)

เมื่อวานผมได้แวะไปที่ร้าน Sport Nova บางกรวยมาเพื่อไปหาซื้อตะกั่วถ่วงไม้ แล้วพอดีมองไปเห็นไม้ Boris Becker Delta Core 1 (DC1) ตัวนี้มาซึ่งเค้าเอาไว้ให้ demo แค่ลองเดาะลูกเล่นก็ปรากฏว่า เออเฮ้ย มันเจ๋งดีแฮะ มันไม่สะเทือนเลยแถมลูกก็ไม่ดีดมากด้วย มันเป็นไม้สำหรับผู้ที่เริ่มเล่นเทนนิส หรือบางคนก็บอกว่าเป็นไม้สำหรับผู้ใหญ่ จริงๆผมก็ไม่ได้เข้าข่ายทั้ง 2 อย่างนะ แต่ก็อยากลองของแปลกๆบ้างเหมือนกัน คิดว่ามันน่าลองเอาไป demo ดู เช้านี้ก็เลยได้เข้าไปน็อคบอร์ดดู ผลปรากฏว่าเป็นไปอย่างที่คิด

Power: ไม่ต้องสงสัยเลย Power มากมายโดยไม่ต้องออกแรงมาก แต่ก็ไม่ใช่ว่าจากมากซะ control ไม่ได้เลย ดีไม่ดีผมว่า power มันน้อยที่สุดในบรรดาไม้ power เลยมั๊ง เอาเป็นว่าค่อย-แรงสั่งได้ครับ

Feel: มี 2 ความรู้สึก "Hollow but Stable" หลายๆคนที่เคยตีไม้เบาๆจะเข้าใจดีว่า Hollow เป็นอย่างไรซึ่งโดยทั่วไป Hollow จะตรงข้ามกับ Solid ถ้านึกไม่ออกลองนึกภาพเอาขวดพลาสติกที่ไม่มีน้ำมาฟาดกับลูกบอลดูจะพบว่ามันรู้สึกกลวงๆแล้วลูกไม่ค่อยไป นั่นแหละ Hollow แต่ในทางกลับกันถ้าในขวดพลาสติกมีน้ำจะพบว่ามันแน่นขึ้น (Solid) Hollow Feel มักจะมาคู่กับ Unstable แต่ DC1 นี่ stable มากๆๆๆๆ ถ้าดูจากโครงสร้างภายนอกจะพบรูตาไก่ของไม้ตัวนี้เป็นแบบเจาะกว้างให้เอ็นสามารถเคลื่อนที่ได้อย่างอิสระ คล้ายกับ O-Port ของ Prince ไม่ว่าลูกโดนตรงใหนของหน้าไม้ มันทำให้รู้สึกว่าตีโดน sweet zone ตลอด หน้าไม้นิ่งไม่มีการสบัดหรือพลิกแต่อย่างใด อีกอย่างนึงก็คือหน้าไม้ดูดลูกด้วยซึ่งไม่ค่อยพบในไม้ power ทั่วไป ข้อดีของมันคือทำให้สามารถควบคุมน้ำหนักและทิศทางได้ง่าย

Ground stroke: ทั้ง Forehand & Backhand "ลื่นใหลและหนักแน่น"ดี ระหว่าง shot ไม่ต้องเตรียมเงื้อไม้มากมาย ไม่ว่าวงซวิงจะยาวหรือสั้นมันก็ตีออกไปได้หมด ตรงนี้ผมชอบมากๆ ลูกพุ่งเลียดไม่เหินเหมือนที่ผมคิด ผมยังไม่ได้ลองตีในคอร์ทจริงเลยไม่สามารถ comment ได้หมดว่ามัน control ได้ดีแคใหน Backhand ก็เยี่ยมทั้งมือเดียวและ 2 มือ

Spin & Slice Potential: Spin ได้ง่ายๆจากทั้ง Forehand & Backhand ถึงแม้ว่าไม้ออกจะหนักมาทางหัว แต่น้ำหนักโดยรวมน้อยมาก (ถ้าเทียบกับไม้อื่นๆที่ผมใช้อยู่) ทำให้ spin ปั่นลูกได้สุดๆ Slice ก็ง่ายเช่นกัน อย่างที่บอกหน้าไม้ดูดบอลดีทำให้ลูกไม่ค่อยเหินสูง

Rating: ผมให้ถึง 5 ดาวเลยสำหรับไม้ DC1 ของเค้าดีจรงๆ ใครจะซื้อไม้ไว้หัดเล่นหรือซื้อให้คุณพ่อคุณแม่เป็นของขวัญปีใหม่ แนะนำตัวนี้เลย

Volkl PowerBridge 10 325g VS. Volkl PowerBridge 10 295g (Demo)

Volkl Powerbridge 10 (325g)

Original Review: ลองมาแล้วครับ ไม้ control ตัวล่าสุดของ Volkl ที่มีสีสันสวยงามตามสไตล์ของ Volkl แต่พอเอามาลองเล่นดู บอกได้คำเดียวเลย "แข็งโป๊ก" ทั้งก้านและหัว (จริงๆแล้วไม้นี้น่าจะชื่อ Viagra PowerBridge มากกว่า) นอกจากนี้ยังไม่ค่อย stable แล้วแถมแรงสั่นสะเทือนยังเข้ามาถึงแข็นด้วย (ทั้งๆที่ grip เป็นแบบลด vibration) ไม่รู้ว่าทั้งหมดนี่เป็นเพราะเอ็น Hybrid ของ Luxilon (Alu Power กับ Supersense อะไรซักอย่างเนี่ยแหละ) หรือเปล่า แต่ที่รู้คือไม่ค่อยเข้ามือ

Ground stroke: พอจับเหวี่ยงๆดูก็รู้สึกได้เลยว่าไม้หัวเบามาก ซวิงง่ายทั้ง Forehand & Backhand ตามสไตล์ของ Volkl อันนี้ถือว่าเป็นเอกลัษณ์ของไม้ Volkl เลยก็ว่าได้ แต่ก็ไม่ค่อยมีอะไรพิเศษครับ เหมาะกับคนที่มี Compact swing style ครับ

Power: ต่ำมากที่สุดเท่าที่เคยใช้มา ผมเคยใช้ Boris Becker 11 mid ซึ่ง Power Rating ต่ำกว่านี้ยังรู้สึกว่า BB11 มันให้ power เยอะกว่าอีกแล้วก็นุ่มกว่ามากๆด้วย อย่างที่บอกครับ เอ็นอาจจะตึงและแข็งเกินไปเลยไม่ได้ power อย่างที่คิด

Feel: แข็งมาก ไม่มีความอ่อนนุ่มเหมือน DNX ตัวก่อนๆเลย ไม่รู้ว่าจะโทษเอ็นหรือไม้ดี แถม Vibration สะท้านมาถึงต้นแขน ตัวเฟรมค่อนข้างบางไม่ stable เท่าไหร่

Rating: เอาไปแค่สองดาวพอ ถ้าคุณสนใจไม้คอนโทรลหน้าประมาณ 98 sq.in มีตัวเลือกอื่นที่น่าสนใจกว่าคือ Wilson KBlade 98 หรือไม่ก็ Head Microgel Prestige Mid+ ครับ

บทสรุปของ Original Review: ผมว่าคุณต้องมาลอง demo เองดีกว่าครับ ในความรู้สึกผมแล้วผมว่าโครงสร้างไม้โดยรวมมันถูกออกแบบมาไม่ลงตัว เข้าใจว่า Volkl จะพยายามรีดไม้ให้ได้บางที่สุดแล้วทดแทนคุณสมบัติทางกายภาพที่หายไปด้วยเทคโนโลยีต่างๆเช่น DNX กับ PowerBridge เรื่องแบบนี้ผมก็เคยเห็นใน Case ของ Dunlop AG100 ครับ แฟนๆ Volkl อย่าว่ากันนะ อย่างไรก็ตาม PowerBridge 10 มันอาจจะเหมาะกับแค่บางคนเท่านั้นจริงๆ

Update (4/11/2009): วันนี้ได้มีโอกาสลองอีกครั้งนึงแต่คราวนี้เปลี่ยนเอ็นใหม่ให้มันุ่มนวลขึ้น เป็นเอ็น Co-Poly ของ Boris Becker ที่นุ่มนวลก็ปรากฎว่าดีขึ้นมาพอสมควรครับ Groundstroke ตีได้ง่ายขึ้นไม่ต้องหวดกันสุดแรงเหมือนก่อน แต่ก็ยังรู้สึกว่าตรง shaft ยัง stiff อยู่ดี..........แต่ยังไงก็แนะนำให้ไป demo กันดูครับ

Volkl Powerbridge 10 (295g)
หลังจากที่ demo ตัว PB10 325g แล้วช่วงอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาก็ได้ลอง Volkl Powerbridge 10 ตัวเบา เท่าที่ลองตีมาก็พบว่าแตกต่างกันเยอะพอสมควรครับ

Feel: คล้ายๆกับตัวหนักครับ ถ้าตีโดน sweet zone เต็มๆก็จะได้ feel ที่ดีมาก เหมือนตีลูกที่กำลังจะแตก แต่ก็ไม่ค่อยจะ stable เท่าไหร่ถ้าตีหลุด sweet zone ไปแค่นิดเดียว ไม้ Volkl หลายๆตัวที่ได้ลองมาก็มีปัญหาแบบนี้หมด ไม่ว่าจะหนักหรือเบา สงสัยว่า Volkl จะเน้นเรื่องการออกแบบให้ซวิงง่ายมากกว่า ถ้าเป็นไม้ Tour หนักๆนี่พี่แกก็จะรีด cross section ซะบางเพื่อให้ลู่ลมมากที่สุดแต่ก็ไม่ได้มีการเสริมน้ำหนักตรง 3 & 9 นาฬิกาอย่างเพียงพอ ส่วนถ้าเป็นไม้ Tweener ก็ทำซะเบาจนเหมือนไม่มีเนื้อหนังกันเลย

Groundstroke: อย่างที่บอก Beam ค่อนข้างบาง (19mm) และแคบทำให้ซวิงได้ง่าย Aerodynamic มากๆสำหรับไม้ Tour ข้อแตกต่างจากตัว 325g คือก้านไม้อ่อนกว่าตัวหนักอย่างชัดเจน ทำให้ตี groundstroke ได้ง่ายกว่า สนุกกว่า backhand มือเดียวตีได้ง่ายกว่าตัวหนัก แต่ทั้งนี้ทั้งนั้นต้องตีแม่นพอสมควรนะ

Power: ต่ำพอๆกับตัวหนักเลยครับ Plow-thru ก็ต่ำ แต่ด้วยความที่มันซวิงง่ายกว่า เลยเร่ง speed หัวไม้ได้เร็วกว่า ก็เลยพอจะได้ power เพิ่มขึ้นมาบ้าง Powerbridge 10 ทั้งสองตัวไม่ใช่ไม้ประเภทที่สร้าง power จากโมเมนตัมจากน้ำหนักไม้ เพราะฉะนั้นคุณต้องกำไม้แน่นๆ (เพราะมันไม่ค่อย stable) แล้วก็ซวิงสั้นๆเร็วๆถึงจะรีดพลังออกมาได้ครับ

บทสรุป: ผมชอบตัวเบามากกว่านะ ด้วยความที่มันมี flexibility ที่มากกว่าตัวหนักทำให้รู้สึกว่ามันตีได้มันส์กว่า แต่ถ้าเป็นเรื่องของ Plow-Thru ตัวหนักก็ต้องดีกว่าอยู่แล้วครับ แต่ยังไงก็ตามไม้ทั้งคู่ก็ยังมีปัญหาเรื่อง stability อยู่ คงต้องมีการถ่วงตะกั่วเพิ่มตรง 3 และ 9 นาฬิกาเพื่อเพิ่มความนิ่งของหน้าไม้ครับ

Rating: คิดว่าประมาณ 3.5 เท่ากับตัวหนักนั่นแหละ

Demo คราวนี้ได้ลองทีเดียว 4 ไม้เลย ที่ปิ๊งๆเลยก็คงจะเป็น Boris Becker Pro ที่ดูจากภายนอกไม่ค่อยน่าสนใจเท่าไหร่ แต่พอได้ลองตีถึงกับวางไม่ลงเลย ต้องขอขอบคุณร้าน Sport Nova บางกรวยที่ให้ยืมไม้มาลองครับ

Head Pro Tour 630 (Thomas Muster)

รีวิวครั้งนี้ขอเป็นการเปรียบเทียบระหว่างสองไม้ละกันครับ เผอิญช่วงสองสามอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมานี่ได้มีเวลาเล่นเทนนิสเพิ่มขึ้น แล้วก็มีโอกาสได้ลองเปรียบเทียบไม้สองอันที่ผมคิดว่ามีอะไรหลายๆอย่างคล้ายๆกัน (หน้า 95, เอ็น 18x20, และสีน้ำเงิน) เลยเอาประสปการณ์มาเล่าสู่กันฟังครับ

1. Dunlop Aerogel 200 + Babolat xCel Premium 17 @ 55lbs


2. Head Pro Tour 630 + Pro Supex Maxim Touch @ 55 lbs


Dunlop Aerogel 200 นี่ผมได้รีวิวไปแล้วครั้งนึงที่ Pyramid Tennis ปัจจุบันนี่ผมก็ยังใช้ AG200 กับเอ็นชุดเดิมอยู่ โดยรวมแล้ว AG200 ก็ยัง sweet เหมือนเดิมยังไงยังงั้น สิ่งที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของ AG200 คือความนุ่มและความนิ่งของหน้าไม้ นุ่มและแน่นกว่าไม้ mid+ ยุคปัจจุบันหลายๆตัวที่เคยได้ลองมา ไม่ว่าจะเป็น Yonex RDS001, Head MG Radical, Head FXP Prestige, Technifibre TF335, Wilson nBlade/kBlade, และล่าสุด Babolat AeroStorm Tour น้ำหนักไม้รวมเอ็นประมาณ 335-340g หนักกำลังดีเหมาะมากกับการเล่นจากท้ายคอร์ทครับ ปกติแล้วผมใช้ Head PC600 ในช่วงแรกๆแต่พอเริ่มเหนื่อยก็จะเปลี่ยนมาเป็น AG200 แทน ก็ทำให้เล่นเทนนิสได้นานขึ้นอีกหน่อยนึงครับ

ส่วน Head PT630 นั้นเป็นไม้ mid+ ในตำนานอันนึงเลยก็ว่าได้ โปรหลายๆคนในอดีตใช้ไม้รุ่นนี้ เช่น Thomas Muster โปรปัจจุบันบางคนก็ยังใช้อยู่เลยแต่ทำสีเป็น Microgel แทน PT630 มีความนุ่มมากกว่า AG200 อยู่นิดนึงเพราะไม้มีความอ่อนตัวสูงมากๆ แต่ด้วยน้ำหนักที่มากกว่าทำให้มันมีความแน่นและความนิ่งมากกว่าซึ่งเห็นได้ชัดเจนเวลาใช้ลูกบอลใหม่ๆมาลอง groundstroke ดู ถ้าใครได้เคยลองตี Head Prestige Classic มาก่อน ก็จะรู้ได้เลยว่า PT630 ก็มี rich feel ประมาณแบบนั้นเลย ผมว่ามันเป็นเสน่ห์ของ Head's Trisys System เลยก็ว่าได้ ข้อสังเกตุได้บางอย่างที่ผมเห็นจากการเล่นไม้ Trisys System รุ่นเก่าๆเช่น PC600, PT630, Radical Agassi ก็คือ

1. เมื่อลูกกระทบไม้แล้วหน้าไม้จะดูดลูกบอลไว้แป๊บนึงแล้วถึงจะดีดลูกออกโดยที่โมเมนตัมไม่เสียไปเท่าไหร่ ฟีลลิ่ง ณ ตอนนั้นสุดยอดมากๆครับ ไม้รุ่นปัจจุบันเช่น KBlade ก็ดูดลูกเหมือนกันแต่โมเมนตัมที่ปล่อยกับไปน้อยกว่าเดิมเยอะทำให้ต้องออกแรงมากมาย
2. ลูกมักจะไม่ค่อยเหินเท่าไหร่ อาจเป็นเพราะหน้าไม้ที่นิ่งกว่าก็ได้ ทำให้คอนโทรลลูกได้แน่นอนกว่า
3. ความแรงของลูกที่มากกว่า พาร์ทเนอร์ของผมบอกว่าลูกที่ออกจาก PT630 มีความแรงมากกว่า AG200 อย่างเห็นได้ชัดทั้งๆที่ผมก็ซวิงแรงไม่ได้ต่างกันมากนัก PT630 ซวิงยากกว่า AG200 อยู่นิดนึงแต่บล็อกลูกแรงๆได้ดีกว่ามาก

Verdict: โดยรวมแล้ว AG200 และ PT630 ให้ความนุ่มนวลในการเล่นได้ดีทั้งคู่เหมาะกับ baseliner แต่ถ้าเน้นแบบ all-court style, AG200 ได้เปรียบกว่าในแง่ความคล่องตัว แต่ถ้าเน้นท้ายคอร์ทอย่างเดียว PT630 กินขาด โดยส่วนตัวผมให้คะแนน PT630 มากกว่า AG200 นิดนึงในภาพรวม เพราะผมมักจะจเน้นที่ฟีลของไม้มากกว่าเวลารีวิว ถึงแม้ว่าตอนนี้จะหา Head Pro Tour 630 ไม่ได้แล้ว แต่ AG200 ก็ยังพอทดแทนกันได้ครับ

Another legendary racquet from Head, this is Head Pro Tour 630 that many ATP Pros today are still using under modern paint jobs. I've got 2 of them from eBay lately. PT630 cosmetic looks so plain, but it has a CAP grommet to enhance the look as well as protect the frame. The racquet is pretty heavy in comparison to other modern mid+ sticks today. I took one right to court for short hitting.

First Impression: On first few shots, it reminds me of the level of comfort from Dunlop Aerogel 200 with more buttery feel. PT630 is also by far the most flexible racquet I have every used, but it does feel really stable and solid on ball impact. The sweet spot is generous. I can hit the ball very clean without tiring my arm too much with it.

Feel: Actually, the PT630 does have the same rich feel that I've found in Head Prestige Classic 600. This unique feel is a result of Trisys System of Head racquets during mid 90s. There is no pinging sound like other modern racquets nowadays. In addition, it performs well on several kinds of strings and tension. If you have PC600 or Radical Agassi, you will get what I am saying.

Stability: Even though PT630 is so flexy, but the weight distribution creates A+ level of stability and allows me to take control over ball trajectory. It doesn't push around in my hand at all. I can also swing as hard as you want, but the ball still lands inside the court. My hitting partner feels that I hit the baller harder with PT630 than with AG200.

Is PT630 for everyone? In terms of play style, the PT630 performs extremely well at the baseline on both forehand and backhand. Spin is ok, but slice is sharp and powerful. I've got the most powerful 2HBH from PT630. With its weight, it blocks heavy shots very well if you have defensive game.

Volkl Tour 10 Mid -- Sold

This is my first Volkl racquet. I have heard a lot of people saying good things about Volkl comfort feel. The racquet is no longer available in the market today. The one I've got may be the only one left in their inventory.

Look: Volkl Tour 10 Mid is one of the sexiest racquets I have ever seen. It comes with yellow & black rubberized finished. Unfortunately, the black synthetic grip kind of ruin the overall look. So the first thing I did was replacing the grip with a Gamma leather grip. Actually, the racquet looks REALLY NICE! with leather grip on it. After that, I strung it up with multifilament string - Pro Supex Maxim Touch 17 and went out hitting.

First Hit: On the first hit, I was almost given up this racquet. It's so heavy and the balance is not head light enough to wield around comfortably. Even though it has a thin beam of a midsized racquet, but it swings like a mid plus. It's pretty awkward. Part of that is because of an odd head shape. Compared to other midsized racquets, Volkl's sweetspot is located in a lower position towards the throat of racquet. The result of this is definitely lower power. With low power level and small hit-zone, it's really hard to get the ball cross the net.

Feel: When the ball hit the stringbed, it feels pretty much like Head PC600. The way it pockets the ball before springing off is just like that and I can really feel that similarity. It even sounds the same. After hitting for a while, I started getting used to it and finding more juice from this stick. Volkl Tour 10 is great for both flat and spin with plenty of FEEL. It requires good swing technique and preparation to get the ball launched off the stringbed with good speed. Long swing and proper follow-thru is required to drive directional control! On groundstroke, the racquet is pretty stable on both forehand and backhand, especially flat shots. On volley or half-volley, Volkl is not so maneuverable due to its balance and weight, but again it's very solid and stable.

The Bottom Line: Now I understand how classic Volkl feel like :) The racquet is too heavy, so it's not really for a modern agressive game today. Rather it fits to those who stay pretty much in defensive mode. Compared to PC600, I like PC600 better. It's just more versatile.

เข้าใจว่ามีหลายคนคงจะให้ความสนใจกับเจ้า KBlade Tour (KBT) ตัวนี้อยู่เพราะเป็นไม้ที่เหมือนว่า Djokovic จะใช้ในตอน Australian Open 2008 แล้วก็ชนะมา ผมก็สนใจเหมือนกันตอนแรกกะว่าจะไม่แล้วเชียวเพราะไม่ชอบไม้ของวิลสันที่เป็น Asian Version เพราะน้ำหนักมันจะเบากว่า US version 20 กรัม แต่ตัว KBlade Tour ตัวนี้เป็นข้อยกเว้นครับ น้ำหนักทั้งสองเวอร์ชั่นจะเท่ากันเป๊ะเลยคือ 324 grams unstrung น้ำหนักกำลังเหมาะมือครับ ไม้ที่ผมมัอยู่ส่วนใหญ่ก็ประมาณ 310-330 กรัมนี่แหละ ทันทีที่ได้มาทางร้านก็เสนอให้ลองขึ้นกับเอ็นมัลติฟิลลาเมนต์ของ Boris Becker Sensor 17 ปกติผมจะใช้ Babolat Xcel Premium เป็นหลักเพราะมันนุ่มกับแขน แต่วันนี้ลองของใหม่ก็ได้

KBlade Tour VS MicroGel Prestige
เป็นที่คาดการณ์กันว่า KBT เป็นอาวุธที่ทาง Wilson ออกแบบมาเพื่อแย่งตลาดของ Head Prestige users ซึ่งในเวลาไล่เลี่ยกัน Head ก็ออก Microgel Prestige Mid ออกมาเพื่อมาแย่งตลาด Wilson ด้วยเช่นกัน ผมได้มีโอกาสลองทั้งสองอันแล้วยังไม่พบข้อที่คล้ายกันเลยนอกจากความเป็นไม้ระดับ mid size แค่นั้นเอง นี่คือข้อแตกต่างครับ

Feel: ทันทีที่ลองซวิงจะรู้สึกว่าหัวไม้เบามากๆและ sweet spot ก็ใหญ่กว่า MGP มากด้วย แล้ว stroke ของ KBT แน่นมาก clean มาก ทุกลูกที่ตีเหมือนโดน sweet spot ผมว่า KBT น่าจะซวิงคล้ายกับ Head MicroGel Radical mid+ มากกว่า คือต้องซวิงเร็วๆเหมาะกับ Agressive game แต่ต่างกันที่ KBT มัน้ำหนักมากกว่า เล่นเกมส์ได้หลากหลายกว่า จริงๆผมอยากให้มันหนักกว่านี้ซักหน่อยนะจะยิ่ง plow-thru ได้ดีกว่านี้ ให้มันใกล้เคียงกับ Head PC600 ไปเลย นอกเรื่องไปไกลแล้ว เข้าเรื่องดีกว่า เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับ MGP ในแง่ของ feel แล้วนั้นสรุปข้อแตกต่างคือ

KBT: แน่น-คม หน้าไม้นิ่งกว่า เงียบกว่า ดูดลูกดีกว่า ทำให้คอนโทรลลูกหน้าเน็ตง่ายกว่า
MGP: แน่น-นุ่ม หน้าไม้ lively กว่ามากๆ ทันทีที่ลูกกระทบหน้าไม้ลูกจะดีดตัวออกทันที

Power: KBT มีเพาว์เวอร์น้อยกว่านิดหน่อย ต้องอาศัย full swing เพื่อดันให้ลูกไปลงที่ท้ายคอร์ท ในขณะที่ MGP นั้น power จะคล้ายๆกับ K90 คือลูกพุ่งออกจากหน้าไม้เร็วกว่า กดลูกเลียดหน้าเน็ตได้ดีกว่า

Control: ทีหน้าเน็ทผมว่า KBT จะคุมบอลได้ง่ายกว่า อาจเป็นเพราะว่ามันดูดบอลให้อยู่บนหน้าไม้ได้นานกว่า ทำให้กะแรงกะระยะได้ง่ายกว่า แต่ถ้าเป็นการยิงจากท้ายคอร์ทผมว่า K90 เหนือกว่าในแง่ของความลึกและความหลากหลาย
Power: K90 มีมากกว่าเห็นๆถ้าตีโดน sweet spot นะ
Stiffness:
- K90 จะอ่อนตัวที่ก้าน แต่แข็งที่หน้าไม้ - ถ้าหวดแบบสบัดข้อมือด้วย ลูกจะพุ่งมาก power เยอะกว่า น่าจะเหมาะกับพวกที่เน้นเสิร์ฟ หรือเล่นทิศทางจากท้ายคอร์ท
- KBlade จะอ่อนตัวที่หน้าไม้ แต่แข็งที่ก้าน - ตอนที่ลูกโดนเอ็นรู้สึกได้เลยว่า ลูกมันจมเข้าไปในเอ็นมากกว่าใน K61 น่าจะเหมาะกับพวกที่ชอบ volley หรือ spin

I've just got a racquet in March 08. It's strung with multi-filament string - Boris Becker Sensor 17. It's speculated as a main competitor to Head MG Prestige Mid. However, I found 2 racquets so different. KBlade Tour is SO LIGHT and have VERY BIG sweet spot. It's so comfortable. I wish it could have been heavier for more plow-thru effect. It swings pretty much like Head MG Radical Mid, which is suitable aggressive players. Due to thin profile and light weight, I can swing thru the air quickly on flat and spin. There are more pluses than minuses on this frame. My first impression was on how clean I can hit to ball on both sides.

MG Prestige VS. KBlade Tour

Feel: Feel wise in comparison to MG Prestige, MG Prestige is kind of springy and make "twang" sound while KBlade produces super solid "thwap" sound and crisp response. The ball seems to dwell deep into KBlade Tour stringbed longer than it does on MG Prestige Mid. This makes great touch and feel. It is an ideal stick for volley.

Power: Power from KBlade is a little lower than MG Prestige, but it's very controllable. I need to take full swing to get the ball landed deep.

Synchronization between body movement and racquet: It's interesting to see KBlade Tour works very well with body movement, especially when I run. It's very natural to swing hard and stay balanced on the run. I am satisfied with my running forehand and half-volley. This stick is truely for all-court players as well as for double. Like typical light frames, KBlade has a minor stability problem. That's the only downside I saw.

K90 VS. KBlade Tour

I played K90 and KBlade Tour to compare them side by side. Both racquets are midsize, but they are totally different. I tended to hit more accurate balls with KBlade Tour while I get more powerful shot from K90. I think both racquets are designed to serve different styles of plays.

K90 Tour: It's stiff at the head and flexible at throat. On ball impact, the ball launches right off the stringbed with good speed. It's good for serve, and baseline game.

KBlade Tour: It's flexible at head and stiff at throat. The ball tends to sink deep in stringbed longer. Great control and nice touch. This is good for volley and spin.

Final words: KBlade Tour is creating a new trend of control oriented racquets today. It will definitely add a big fun factor to your game.

ProKennex Redondo 93 (demo)

I borrowed this Redondo from my friend. Here is my short feedback.

Overview: The racquet has rubberized finish, looks very classic. There are 2 small pieces of leads installed on 10 and 2 o'clock position. The racquet is strung so tight that I have to take full swing on every shot. It's very headlight and easy to wield around. The racquet is strung tightly (58lbs) with nylon string.

Feel: I normally play Head PC600 and I can say Redondo is so different from PC600 in many areas. Even though both racquets are pretty flex, but the feel on ball impact is very different day and night. PC600 is solid, but Redondo is pretty muted like Wilson. In addition, Redondo has shorter ball dwell-time than PC600 does.

Groundstroke: First 10 minutes I was so struggling in finding a sweetspot of this racquet. The ball went nowhere on mishit. After hitting for a while, I finally got some good feedback and power from the sweetspot. It played pretty much like my PS85 in terms of swing style and feel. Redondo is for those who have long loopy swing and hit flat regularly. It was very stable on hard hitting on both forehand and 1HBH. I tried 2HBH, but never got it right. I am sure that it's a good racquet for a serve return. Upon the ball impact, the feel is pretty muted as if the dampener was installed. The vibration is nearly zero.

Volley: I didn't hit in a full court, so my feedback may not be accurate. Volley is a strength of Redondo. I found Redondo hit volleys consistently and accurately. The racquet is quick enough for me to change ball direction with a wrist flick. It's really easy. Again, there is no vibration on volley.

Final words: Redondo is categorized a classic racquet with no doubt. Instead of loading with tons of aerospace materials like other modern racquets today, PK simply uses 100% graphite on Redodo and fine-tune it for the ultimate serve-and-volley experience. It's a precision tool and shares a lot of Wilson PS85 characteristics. If you like PS85, give Redondo a try. Redondo may be the very last classic racquet in production today.

Yonex RQis1 Tour (Demo)

I had a chance to demo RQis1 Tour for a short period of time today. RQis1 Tour comes with new nano-scaled material technology, and aerodynamic design. On the court, this racquet is very different from other Yonex player racquets I have ever played day and night. It feels so hollow, and has EXTREMELY LOW POWER. Even though it's comfortable and has a lively stringbed, it lacks of good mass to generate ball momentum on groundstroke. You need to have a long swing and complete follow-thru to get the ball cross the net. On hard hitting, the racquet pushed around a little bit, not very stable as RDS001. On a positive side, RQis1 Tour has a good spin potential because of open string pattern and head light balance. In summary, it's not good enough to be classified as a player racquet. Yonex must miss something from the design room. If you already own RDX500/RDS001 and expect to get RQis1 Tour for a replacement, stick with what you already have. They are by far better.
